Munnell Run Farm periodically offers Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses through Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV. The course topics vary, but all are designed specifically to address PA Chapter 4 Academic Standards. The courses focus mainly on Environment and Ecology standards, but other standards are also addressed to help teachers integrate agriculture and ecology topics into their existing curricula.
“Project Food, Land & People and Resources for Agriculture Awareness Education” is our most requested course. To date, more than 100 teachers in Mercer, Butler, and Lawrence Counties in PA have been trained at Munnell Run Farm in the use of the national Project Food, Land & People (FLP) curriculum. (To learn more about FLP, log onto www.foodlandpeople.org) We also incorporate a number of other resources into the training, including the use of Munnell Run Farm as a site for Field Learning Experiences for kindergarten through college-level students.
